One of the best parts of attending weddings (other than reuniting with old friends, drinking free booze and, you know, celebrating true love) is choosing what to wear.
I love having a reason to get dressed up – but it can also be a bit stressful. You have to consider the season, the time of day and the venue. And you have to decipher the dress code printed on the invitation.
We travelled to a close friend’s wedding in North Carolina this past weekend – which was absolutely gorgeous, btw – and the dress code called for “fall festive” attire. It made me realise that autumn weddings are a bit more of a challenge. I wanted to avoid pastels or anything that felt summery – but I also didn’t want anything that felt too heavy or Christmasy.
Anyway, I took my typical approach of scouring ASOS for 12 hours before settling on this ASOS Bird and Floral Embroidered Shift Dress. I love the midi length and the delicate embroidery. Plus the loose shape feels modern – and gives me room to eat wedding cake.
I paired the dress with royal blue pointed toe shoes and my new winter coat from & Other Stories.
Eat, drink and be married!
