I’ve certainly been having a thing with midi skirts lately. This Topshop gem is still in heavy rotation – and I’ve just spotted a few more that I’m debating ordering from ASOS. But I personally think midi skirts just don’t look as cute with tights as they do with bare legs – and as we head into winter we’re nearly in mandatory tights weather. (That is unless you’re going straight from your flat to an Uber to a restaurant… or if you drink minimum three glasses of wine before braving the elements.)
So, that’s why I’m lusting over winter mini skirts this evening. Paired with thick tights, they’re perfect for the season – especially when they come in a toasty-warm fabric like wool, leather or velvet. Plus for tall girls like me, opaque tights make a super-short skirt a little less tarty and a little more work-appropriate.
1. Mini Skirt in Metallic Leather, ASOS, £60
This gold skirt makes the plain black leather skirt in my wardrobe feel so boring. I’d wear it with a super-casual sweatshirt and trainers.
3. Patent Short Skirt, Zara, £25.99
I think I could just about get away with wearing this to work if I pair it with a really simple polo neck and loafers.
4. Janet Velvet Mini Skirt, Sandro, £175
The colour, the fabric… this skirt is just so right. Sadly, I probably cannot justify spending this much on a velvet skirt – so I’ll just admire it from afar.
6. Leopard Print Pelmet Skirt, Topshop, £38
My husband has told me more than a few times that I have enough leopard already. But I pretty much never get sick of it, so deal.
Which of these skirts do you need in your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments! x
