5 plaid coats you definitely need for winter

Lust list: plaid coats

Every year when October rolls around I go into coat-scouting overdrive. My desire for chic outerwear is even more intense living in London because the winters are more mild. You can get away with wearing a wool coat – perhaps even partially unbuttoned. Whereas in New York City’s you’re pretty much required to zip yourself into a full-length sleeping bag from November to March.

Thankfully I have a few really brill winter coats from past seasons that are still in good condition. But one that I’m still missing is a nice plaid topper. (Or tartan, check, etc.)

I would love to own all five of these coats – but then I’d probably have to give up my flat and live on the streets for a couple of months. (But I would be so warm and stylish!) So instead, I’ll just admire them all from afar… and maybe buy JUST ONE. Right now I think the frontrunners are the Isabel Marant and (surprisingly!) the Marks and Spencer.
