Sunday style: chunky knits and leather shorts

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying unpacking my cosy jumpers and chunky knits recently and layering up for the crisp autumn weather. And the fact that it was actually sunny and gorgeous outside today inspired me to could get out and about in the neighbourhood and take a few snaps.

I bought this monochrome Reiss coat last year and it’s still one of my absolute favourites. It goes with everything and makes any outfit feel just a bit more special. Today I wore it over a chunky blue polo neck jumper (Massimo Dutti, £64.95) that I bought in Bruges last month and a pair of leather shorts from Piperlime that I’ve had for several seasons. I wore sheer black tights (because it wasn’t really that cold), black leather boots from Nordstrom, thick grey socks and cat-eye Dior sunnies.

And yes, I was carrying my same Marc by Marc Jacobs totes that I carry pretty much all the time because there’s just too much stuff in there to swap it out on the regular. Basically the only time I switch it up is if I’m going out at night and the possibility of crowded bars and booze-fuelled dancing is on the cards – in which case a tiny clutch (preferably one that can be securely strapped to my wrist) is in order. Also, I just really like it, so move on already.

*Side note: my trusty photographer (aka husband) kept gently suggesting that I smile for these pics because I was making a strange half-serious, half-awkward face. But the problem with sunglasses like these is that my cheeks push them up in a weird way when I smile. Luckily because of my chronic case of Bitchy Resting Face, they’re usually not a problem…
