Okay, so let’s back up here a bit. I’m going to come right out and say Hotel Alexandra is the only place I’ve stayed in Copenhagen. It’s also the only hotel I’ve even stepped foot inside. But, I still feel reasonably confident saying it might be the most stylish. Or one of the most stylish. Top 10? Top 25, for sure. Okay, regardless – it is very cool. I’ll elaborate…
For my birthday this year, MR. and I decided to go for a little city-break to Copers, as I now affectionately call it. (We got very close on our first visit.) We were only there for two nights, but we packed a lot into that time. So much so that I felt like the trip deserved separate posts on food, shopping and style. But I thought I’d start off with a review of Hotel Alexandra.
The location is perfect: just a 5-minute walk to the train station and the main shopping area. But it’s the interior of Hotel Alexandra that really shines. It features retro Danish design with different rooms representing different decades and designers.
Our room, a tribute to Danish designer Ole Wanscher, was gorgeous – simple, minimalist and clean. But even cooler was the lobby. Before dinner on Sunday night we cracked open the “honesty bar”, helped ourselves to a couple of glasses of whisky and sipped them among the artful book cases and gallery walls. I’m certainly no expert on design, but I felt like Don Draper would have felt right at home.
