I’m really into longer dresses and skirts that are a sort of maxi-midi hybrid – and this chic Joseph dress just happens to be on mega sale. I love it with matching heels and a contrasting clutch. And, of course, a moto jacket to keep it from feeling too dressed up.
Every year when October rolls around I go into coat-scouting overdrive. My desire for chic outerwear is even more intense living in London because the winters are more mild. You can get away with wearing a wool coat – perhaps even partially unbuttoned. Whereas in New York City’s you’re pretty much required to zip yourself into a full-length sleeping bag from November to March.
Leading up to our weekend city-break to Copenhagen, I did a tiny bit of shopping… and then a tiny bit more once we arrived. So, of course, I was excited to take my new pieces out for a test drive. Luckily, it was ridiculously sunny and gorgeous the entire weekend, and the scenery was made for street style snapping.
Okay, so let’s back up here a bit. I’m going to come right out and say Hotel Alexandra is the only place I’ve stayed in Copenhagen. It’s also the only hotel I’ve even stepped foot inside. But, I still feel reasonably confident saying it might be the most stylish. Or one of the most stylish. Top 10? Top 25, for sure. Okay, regardless – it is very cool. I’ll elaborate…
This past weekend featured three of my favourite things: sunshine, wine and quality hang-time with my girlfriends. There was also Mexican food, whisky and a punting guide who looks like Aladdin – but that’s for another post.
Truth time: I have a lot of clothes that I never wear. Either they don’t quite fit right or I don’t have the pieces to pair them with… or they just kind of blah. So I got kind of weirdly excited when I resuscitated this skirt last weekend…
I have a history with bad hair. Last summer I got what I like to refer to as ‘The Unintentional Rachel’ and may have slightly overreacted. I had another cut six months later (it took that long to recover from the trauma) but I still wasn’t pleased.
